LAST CHANCE - 2012

Photo: Otis Telegraph

On June 25, 2012, it was a close call for firefighters as flames devoured a pumper at Last Chance in Washington County, Colorado.

The blaze flashed across 45,000 acres of prairie east of Denver - one of largest in state's history. Firefighters saved homes, a Methodist church and their fire station.

Last Chance, located on U.S. 36 about 50 miles west of Denver,  is covered by the Southwest Washington County Fire District.
